Default New Member Intro....

Greetings all...

I'm a soon to be Fairbanksian (is that the proper derivation ? Anyone?) and will be attending UAF starting this September. I've been gaming (pencil and paper RPGs, board war games, miniatures...) since the early 1980's (approximately) and am looking to make some contacts with the possibility of a game now and then, when my school schedule will allow - my major is technical theatre, which means that my schedule can be crazier than some...

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself....

BTW, if anyone reads/posts on the Herogames forums (at http://www.herogames.com/forums/forum.php ) I post under clsage there too.....

Howdy, Carl! Welcome to the forum.

I could be wrong, but I think they abbreviated the term for "Person Who Lives in Fairbanks" to just "crazy." ;-)

I think Cliff is correct in the designation, the other thing I have heard is, Fairbanks is where all the Alaska Red Necks come from.

Anyway, welcome. I love the Hero system tons-o-fun.

Back when I went to UAF, Nerland (aka "Nerdland") was where the vast majority of gamers lived. Could be different nowadays of course. In any case, I'm not sure what kind of miniatures gaming you're into, but I'm always looking for an opponent out at Eielson. As for RPGs, our gaming group out here is pretty full up. I'm sure you'll find some like-minded individuals out there on campus tho, "Nerdland" or otherwise. Best of luck with school stuffs!

Welcome to Fairbanks! I'm mostly a miniatures gamer these days - Wargods, a little War Machine, Lord of the Rings, and we've been wanting to try out Song of Blades and Heroes. As far as pen and paper, Cthulhu is about all I've played in recent times, but I'm familiar with a bunch of others (World of Darkness, AD&D, Palladium, RIFTS, etcetera...).

There is (or was until recently) a UAF Gaming club that organizes console and PRG gaming, you might want to get in touch with them through the Wood Center, and the Comic Shop is also a good central location to find gamers.
